Core Values
- Biblical Teaching – We believe the Bible is completely true and is the inspired word of God. It is important to us to introduce people to the truths of God’s word and how lives can be changed as we enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ. Everything we do as a church and individually should always be filtered through, and in line with the Word of God.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”
- Serving the Community – The heart of Outdoor Life Ministries will be community. We desire to practice what Jesus modeled – “Love your neighbor”. Jesus did this through providing for the people around Him. Outdoor Life ministries will work to do the same by meeting real, felt needs in people’s lives and the community as a whole.
Matthew 22:39 “…You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
James 2:15-16 “If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace, be warmed and be filled.’ And yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?”
- Culturally Relevant – This church will be relevant and understand that we live in a unique and changing culture. We will work towards bridging the gap and removing the physical barriers that might prevent people from seeking a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Though the methods will change, the message “the Word” never changes.
1 Corinthians 9:22-23 “To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak; I have become all things to all men, so that I may by all means save some. I do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that I may become a fellow partaker of it.”
- Relational Discipleship – Building meaningful relationships with others happens by hanging out with them and doing life together. We will strive to do this through small groups, one on one discipleship and activities geared towards bringing people into a closer relationship with each other with the purpose of growing in spiritual maturity.
- Faithfulness – First and foremost we will be faithful to follow God’s call. We will remain patient in the Lord and not move ahead of God or fall behind Him. This will be modeled by the church as an example to encourage individuals to do the same in their lives. This means there will be times where we step out of our comfort zone, knowing that God will equip us and provide for the work He has planned.
1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain”.
- Excellence – This does NOT mean perfection. We desire to pursue excellence by doing whatever God has called us to do to the best of our abilities, with all our heart.
“whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for man,”
